Artificial Intelligence (AI), also considered as machine learning, is an intelligence which is mostly demonstrated by the machines in comparison to the intelligence that we can see in humans and other animals. AI is fundamentally applied when a particular machine tends to impersonate the cognitive abilities that humans associate with other human minds, mainly learning and problem-solving.
Artificial Intelligence is also going to change the face of digital marketing. The power of AI will disrupt how Digital Marketing is done. But, before we can understand how & why, let’s look at what is AI?
Artificial Intelligence was first discovered to be an academic discipline in 1956 and since then, its popularity has only gone up. AI research gets divided into various subfields that quite often fail to communicate with each other. These subfields are mostly based on the technical considerations, specific goals, use of particular tools, and sometimes, deep philosophical differences. These are also sometimes based on social factors. The problems of AI research may include logical reasoning, knowledge representation, planning, learning, natural language processing, perception and the ability to move and manipulate objects.
General intelligence is considered to be the most important goal. The approaches to these problems include statistical methods, computational intelligence and traditional symbolic AI. The tools that are used in AI include various versions of search and mathematical optimizations, artificial neural networks and the methods which are based on statistics, economics and probability. On the other hand, AI also draws upon computer science, psychology, mathematics, linguistics, philosophy and a few others. AI is here, and it has come to stay and spread its wings through the following:
1. Ubiquitous Virtual Assistants
Almost every time we interact with AIs, for instance, when we are contacting a bank or insurance company, we hear the artificial intelligence instructing us to do certain actions to proceed. The chatbots with whom we are having a conversation are not human but in the recent future, we may be introduced to chatbots more human which may become difficult for us to relate to. They are improving with each passing day, and their ability to understand our accent and language is also being developed. This is good news for call centre executives as they would not need to constantly answer the same basic questions and will be able to focus on controlling the more creative aspects of conversations.
2. Government Health Programs Are Going to Turn into AI
In the last few years, we have seen hospitals are transforming from paper-based to digital systems. However, it is important to note that the medical industry is very cautious while making any hasty technological advancements. AI is mainly used to review the newly-digitized medical records and to support the clinical staff by helping to predict life-threatening conditions and behaviours. As spending in medications is becoming a very controversial topic in most of the countries, we will soon see AI getting leveraged for making diagnosis quicker and also, in preventive medicine as that would make it easier to cure medical issues at the earliest.
3. Disruptive AI Business Models Will Emerge in the Following 12 Months
Digitization has changed the world in unthinkable ways. For example, Alibaba, considered one of the most popular retailers, does not hold any inventory. It is believed that within the next few months, AI-based disruptions will excite the retail industry significantly.
Almost 70 years later, as we discuss AI, we surely understand how huge the impact of AI has been and will continue to remain and increase as more and more businesses are adopting it in their structural and functional blueprints.
